Blog Journal #5

I chose to use Twitter for this course because I am already very knowledgeable of how Instagram works and what it has to offer. I never had a Twitter account prior to this course because it always seemed unnecessary. I've heard about the drama that can happen on Twitter between political issues as well as celebrity drama. However, this course showed me that if being used correctly. Twitter can be a very useful tool for growing your PLN as well as gather great resources to help me become a better teacher.

The digital divide was a serious problems in the 1990s. If students were low income and therefore had less access to technology, they were put at a disadvantage compared to the students with the new technology. The digital divide was caused by low income families and students not having access to the same technology or skills that higher income families and students had. As a teacher I will have to be able to make sure both sides of the divide will have access to the same education, just in different formats.

Educational software becomes more prominent in classrooms every year. This software can be very beneficial in helping students learn in a different way and be more creative. Using the free Google Workspace applications such as Docs or Slides will help students create thing faster and more visually appealing. These typing skills will be useful for students their entire life. I also plan to use a fun math program called Prodigy. This website allows teachers to assign math assignments in the form of "quests". The students go through this game to complete their quests as wizards and they "cast spells" to destroy the math problems and get the right answer.
